Destination Elopement in the Lavender Fields of Provence

This beautiful elopement took place on 24 June 2023, from 20:30 to 21:30. L and J chose Provence for their elopement, specifically a sunset session in the lavender fields, to capture the magic of the golden hour. The last week of June is perfect for these sessions, as the lavender is at its peak and the lighting is soft and romantic.

We selected a quieter field located between Lavandes Angelvin and Valensole. This field is ideal for sunset sessions because it receives direct light from behind, creating a warm golden glow across the lavender, making it perfect for an intimate elopement.

Additionally, this location offers access to a secondary field directly across the street, where the lavender curls to the left. Having these two fields in one location allows for a variety of backgrounds and textures, which is especially important for a one-hour shoot.

The Elopement Session

The session began in the primary field with a mix of candid moments and posed portraits. The golden sunset light highlighted the colours of the lavender and complemented L’s wedding dress beautifully. We captured both solo shots of L and romantic portraits of the couple together.

After Sunset Lighting

Afterwards, we moved to the smaller secondary field, which offered a different perspective and mood.

The light remained perfect, softening as the sun continued to set, and the couple looked stunning against the textured lavender and gentle curves of the field.

We concluded the session at 21:30, right after sunset. In this short but magical hour, L and J’s elopement was captured beautifully, combining romantic golden-hour lighting, quiet lavender fields, and a range of natural backgrounds that highlighted both the couple and the stunning Provençal landscape.
