Plateau de Valensole ¶
Main Fields ¶
Lavandes Angelvin ¶
This is arguably the most well-known and iconic lavender field in the area. It offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside and is a great place to take photos at sunset. This is also a family-owned lavender farm! You can purchase lavender products such as essential oils, soaps, perfumes and other lavender-based products at the shop if you're looking for souvenirs. It’s also the closest field to the town of Valensole, which is a five-minute drive away.
Pros: It's an iconic field.
Cons: Because of how beautiful it is, it can get busy around sunset.
Terraroma ¶
This is another more well-known field located to the left of Lavandes Angelvin. Another family-owned farm and producer of Provence almonds, essential oil of lavender, pure honey and natural cosmetics. They also have a beautiful sunflower field to the left of the lavender field.
Pros: You can take pictures with sunflower and lavender fields!
Cons: Because of it's proximity to Valensole, it can get busy around sunset.
For some of our favourite fields that are a little more off-the-beaten-path, here are a few that are not named:
Field to the South of Brunet ¶
This is one of our favourite lesser-known fields, as we’ve rarely seen anyone else here when we’re shooting! The photos here also turn out great because of the gorgeous mountains that line the horizon.
Pros: It's definitely one of the quietest fields in the area.
Cons: No areas for shade. Here’s one of our couples, Amanitraa and Souvik, who we shot in 2021 that were in Valensole to celebrate their honeymoon.
Field by Ravin de Laval ¶
This field is perfect for those who want to go somewhere lesser-known. It's also quite unique since it’s one of the only ones in the area that are curved like this. Pictured below are Shailin and Rajesha, one of our couples who were in Valensole to celebrate just getting engaged!
Pros: This field is very quiet, we almost never share the field with anyone else here during our shoots! There's also a wheat field to the right of the lavender field that's gorgeous for photos.
Cons: The sun sets over the mountain here so you won't get as much sunset lighting.
Field South of St-Julien-d’Asse ¶
This is one of the largest fields in the area with a beautiful view of the mountains in the backdrop.
Field by Les Chaudes ¶
Another field with mountains lining the horizon. Plus, it’s a beautiful field to watch the sunrise at!
Rolling Hills by Lavandes Angelvin ¶
Another gorgeous field that's close to Valensole. We love this one since the rolling hills of the plateau are emphasised here, making for very dramatic shots! This field is perfect for capturing the landscape of the area.
Pros: Close to Valensole but definitely a quieter field for sunsets.
Cons: No areas for shade.
Town of Valensole ¶
One place that is commonly overlooked during a visit to the lavender fields is the town of Valensole itself, but it really is a charming and picturesque town that is well worth a visit. We took two of our clients (who had just gotten engaged in Lavandes Angelvin the night before) here for a photo session and we were so happy with how many adorable spots there were for pictures! It was hard not to stop every few steps.
More Sunflower Fields ¶
Field by Saint-Grégoire ¶
A small patch of sunflowers beside a huge lavender field.
Les Garants du Goût ¶
There is a very beautiful and small sunflower field behind this little store. So if you’re planning to do some shopping for some fruits and vegetables, you might as well go there to see a sunflower field while you’re at it!
Terraroma ¶
This field is mentioned above , but I wanted to include it here since it’s a must-go if you’re on the hunt for sunflowers.
