Proposal Photography at Château de Berne Hotel, Provence¶
Hotel Setting¶
This proposal took place on May 19 at Château de Berne in Flayosc, Provence. Château de Berne is a hotel and winery set within a stunning estate in the heart of Provence. The property features beautifully maintained gardens, tree-lined paths, and elegant outdoor spaces. It combines luxurious accommodations with a working vineyard and peaceful surroundings, making it an ideal setting for both private moments and photographs. The estate is known for its romantic atmosphere, quiet corners, and striking natural beauty, with locations ranging from manicured gardens to scenic areas near the winery.
Proposal Planning¶
H contacted me to plan a special moment to propose to his partner, A. The weather was perfect for a spring evening, warm but not hot, with soft light that made it ideal for an outdoor session. We planned for H’s proposal at 18:00 and scheduled the session until 19:00, allowing us to capture the soft light of late afternoon just before sunset. H and A were staying in one of the rooms at the estate, and A believed they were heading out for a dinner. This provided the perfect cover for the proposal setup. H chose a tree-lined path in the gardens, with cypress trees on either side. As they walked down the path, H got down on one knee, and we captured the moment. A was surprised and delighted, and the joy and emotion were evident in the photos.
After the proposal, we continued taking pictures at the beautiful proposal spot before moving onto different locations.
Post-Engagement Photos¶
Afterwards, we to explore the gardens and surrounding areas. We took some photos near the winery and cellar, which provided a combination of vineyards and Provençal architecture as a backdrop.

We also visited a small square in the centre of the estate, featuring a charming water fountain that added variety to the images.
The Gardens¶
Finally, we finished at a small bridge in the gardens, where the sunset light created a warm, glowing atmosphere that highlighted the couple and the natural beauty of the surroundings.
The shoot concluded around 19:00. Everything went beautifully, the lighting and conditions were perfect, and the couple was cheerful and relaxed throughout. The combination of Château de Berne’s gardens, winery, and scenic pathways made it an ideal location for a springtime proposal in Provence, resulting in a beautiful series of photographs that captured both the romance of the moment and the charm of the estate.
