A Romantic Wedding at a Castle in Aerzen, Germany¶
Not every wedding story follows the same rhythm, and this one was a little different for us. On this occasion, we had the pleasure of joining the celebration as second shooters, capturing selected parts of the day rather than documenting the full event from start to finish. We also captured some of the wedding with film. Although our coverage was shorter than usual, it was still a beautiful and memorable wedding in an extraordinary setting.
The Wedding Location¶
This elegant wedding took place at the stunning Schlosshotel Münchhausen castle in Aerzen, Lower Saxony in Germany. Aerzen is a small town situated south of Hanover. The surrounding countryside is peaceful and picturesque, offering a wonderful sense of escape while still being conveniently located.
Schlosshotel Münchhausen is truly a remarkable venue for a wedding. The five star superior hotel is set within a historic moated castle and surrounded by landscaped parkland. With over sixty individually designed rooms and suites, the hotel combines classic grandeur with modern comfort. At the heart of the property lies a beautiful courtyard, framed by the castle’s elegant façades, which creates a romantic and intimate atmosphere for guests to gather. From the manicured gardens to the refined interiors, every corner of the venue feels thoughtfully designed and effortlessly luxurious. It is easy to see why couples choose this location for such an important day.

The Ceremony¶
The wedding ceremony was held in the hotel's chapel, a charming and intimate space that perfectly suited the tone of the celebration. The soft light, historic architecture and close gathering of family and friends created a warm and meaningful atmosphere.
Speeches, First Dance and Cake Cutting¶
Following the ceremony, we documented part of the speeches, which were heartfelt and filled with both laughter and touching tributes to the couple. Even stepping in as second shooters, it was a privilege to witness these personal moments.
After the reception, we snuck away with the couple to take some pictures around the beautiful venue.
We were also able to capture the first dance, a highlight of any wedding celebration. There is something timeless about that first dance as newlyweds, surrounded by friends and family, and this one was no exception.
The cake cutting took place in the hotel's cellar, a unique and atmospheric setting that added a distinctive touch to the evening. The historic stone surroundings created a cosy and intimate backdrop for this sweet tradition.
A Different Kind of Wedding Story¶
This was one of the few weddings where we worked as second shooters rather than leading the photography ourselves. Because of that, our coverage focused on specific parts of the day rather than the entire celebration. We are grateful to have contributed to such a beautiful event and to have documented these meaningful highlights.
Even in a shorter time frame, it was clear how much thought and love had gone into every detail. Schlosshotel Münchhausen provided an unforgettable setting, and the couple’s joy made every moment a pleasure to capture. We are delighted to share these glimpses from a truly elegant wedding in the heart of Lower Saxony.
