Sunset Engagement Session in Saint-Tropez, French Riviera¶
S and R were visiting the south of France in late May and had recently gotten engaged. They wanted a few beautiful photos for their wedding invitations, so we planned a relaxed session in Saint-Tropez. The timing was early evening into sunset, which allowed for soft, warm lighting and vibrant colours.
Late Spring Light¶
This session took place on 25 May 2024, late spring. The weather was warm but comfortable, perfect for a relaxed evening walk through the town and along the coast. The session lasted about an hour and fifteen minutes, from 19:45 to 21:00, allowing enough time to capture multiple moods and locations.
Exploring the Port and Old Town¶
We began at the port area of Saint-Tropez, near the main promenade where the colourful buildings create a bright and cheerful backdrop.
From there, we wandered into the old town, capturing playful, natural moments as S and R walked through narrow streets adorned with ivy, pastel-painted walls and small cafés.
We also took some photos near the Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, the iconic church in the old town, which added a charming historical element to the images. The combination of greenery, cobblestones and architectural details gave the session a romantic, timeless feel.
Sunset at Plage des Graniers¶
After the old town, we walked for about ten minutes to Plage des Graniers, a small rocky beach just outside the centre.
This part of the shoot allowed us to capture a different atmosphere, with the calm water and rocky shoreline providing a dramatic yet intimate setting. The sunset light reflected off the water, creating soft golden tones and beautiful contrasts for their engagement portraits.
We finished the shoot with a few last pictures on the beach.
The session flowed naturally, moving from the lively port to the quiet old town streets, and ending with the serene beach at sunset. S and R were relaxed and playful throughout, which made the images feel effortless and full of life.
The final result is a mix of vibrant town scenes and soft, golden-hour portraits, perfect for their engagement announcements and wedding invitations.
