West Coast Summer Destination Wedding in Vancouver, Canada¶
This beautiful summer wedding took place in early August, beginning in metro-Vancouver and ending at the UBC Boathouse along the Fraser River.
A Beautiful Start at Home¶
The morning began at T and B’s home, where T was getting ready with her closest friends. The atmosphere was relaxed and full of energy. After getting ready, we moved to the garden area behind their apartment building for the first look. It was an intimate and emotional moment. Their bridesmaids and groomsmen stood at a distance, quietly watching and sharing in the excitement. You can see them softly blurred in the background of some photographs, which made the moment feel even more personal.
Private Vows¶
T and B also exchanged private vows there, surrounded by greenery and their closest friends. It was simple and heartfelt.
Wedding Party Portraits and Heritage Farm¶
Following the first look, we headed to London Heritage Farm. This heritage site is a popular spot for wedding portraits, and it is easy to see why. The grounds feature a charming gazebo, manicured gardens and a small bridge, all framed by open green space and historic buildings. It offers a mix of rustic and romantic backdrops in one convenient location.
We spent an hour there with the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Their friends played such a big role in the day, and it was clear how close everyone was.
The session was full of personality, there was constant laughter, and it made for some wonderfully natural photographs.
We then made our way to Iona Beach Regional Park, just a short drive away. With its wide open shoreline and expansive sky, it provided a completely different feel. The group continued the fun with relaxed beachside portraits before we wrapped up this portion of the day.
UBC Boathouse on the Fraser River¶
The ceremony and reception were held at the UBC Boathouse, located along the Fraser River near River Road. The venue is known for its modern architecture, large windows and panoramic waterfront views. Surrounded by water and mountains in the distance, it offers a clean and contemporary setting that transforms beautifully from day to night.
The clean lines of the building paired with the natural surroundings created a stunning backdrop. We also took additional portraits of T and B, as well as more photographs with their bridal party before the ceremony began.
As guests started to arrive, we stepped back and gave the couple a few quiet moments alone. Those small pockets of calm are always important before everything officially begins.
The Ceremony¶
The ceremony was heartfelt and joyful. The groom walked in with his parents, followed by bridesmaids and groomsmen entering individually. There was also an adorable flower girl who stole more than a few hearts on her way down the aisle. T then walked in with her parents, a beautiful and emotional entrance.
They exchanged vows and shared their first kiss as newlyweds. Everything flowed seamlessly.
After the ceremony, we captured a photo of the all the guests together.
An Evening Celebration¶
The evening unfolded effortlessly. First the couple had their grand entrance.
Then speeches were shared and dinner was served. T shared a sweet dance with her dad and then a first dance with B.
The cake was especially memorable, decorated with the cutest detail of their little dog, Haru, that held special meaning for them.
The details of the reception were absolutely stunning.
As the sun began to set, we stepped outside for golden hour portraits. The colours over the Fraser River were extraordinary. Deep oranges and soft pinks reflected on the water, and the modern lines of the boathouse contrasted beautifully with the dramatic sky.
We took some last photos with the bridal party at sunset outside of the venue.
