A Late Spring Post-Engagement Session at Sunrise, Nice¶
Mid May in Nice sits perfectly between spring and summer. May 16 is still considered late spring, and while the weather can be a little unpredictable, it often brings soft light, fewer crowds, and a beautifully calm atmosphere. This engagement session with M and O captured all of that, and more.
M and O arrived in Nice already engaged, but with a twist that made their story especially memorable. During their trip, they had unknowingly planned to propose to each other. Even more incredibly, their rings were almost identical. We saved the ring close ups for the end of the session, and capturing both rings together became one of the sweetest details of the morning.
They chose matching white outfits, which looked elegant and timeless against the pastel tones of Nice. The session ran from 7.00 to 8.00, timed so that we could finish at Colline du Château once it opened.
We met in the Old Town. Early in the morning, these streets are quiet and peaceful, making them ideal for relaxed, intimate portraits.
From there, we made our way to Quai Rauba Capeù, just above the Promenade des Anglais. This spot offers one of the most beautiful views over the city, with the Mediterranean stretching out below and the skyline framed by the surrounding hills.
We then continued around the corner of Quai Rauba Capeù. The architecture here frames the sea perfectly.
At 7.45, Colline du Château opened earlier than expected, allowing us to head up to the top sooner than planned. We finished the session on the side overlooking Port Lympia, one of our favourite viewpoints in the city. Even with a cloudier sky, the light was still bright and soft enough for photos, and the atmosphere felt calm and expansive. The wind picked up slightly, giving movement to their hair and adding a natural, effortless feel to the final images.
Just as we wrapped up, the first signs of rain began to appear. Rain never worries us, as it can be incredibly romantic, but it felt fitting that the session ended just before it arrived.
M and O were a joy to photograph. Elegant, warm, and completely in sync, they made the most of every location. Ending the session with a close up of their matching engagement rings felt like the perfect way to tell their story. Two proposals, two identical rings, and one beautiful morning in Nice to celebrate it all.
