A Seaside Elopement Session in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, South of France¶
A Quiet Riviera Escape Elopement¶
In mid-August, from 17:00 to 18:00, we photographed M and J just after their elopement in the South of France. They chose to travel to the Riviera to exchange their vows privately, and these portraits were taken immediately following their ceremony.
Elopement Planning¶
They selected Beaulieu-sur-Mer specifically for its peaceful atmosphere. Compared to many of the more frequented towns along the Côte d’Azur, Beaulieu-sur-Mer feels calm and understated. It offers beautiful coastal views without the larger crowds, making it a wonderful choice for couples seeking a relaxed and intimate setting. It was the only session we photographed there during the 2022 season, and the town left a lasting impression.
Seaside Beginnings Near Plage des Fourmis¶
We began near Plage des Fourmis, close to the train station. Rather than heading directly onto the beach, we stayed along the elevated walkway just above it. From there, we had clear views of the sea and the curved coastline, framed by soft late afternoon light. The path provided a gentle, elegant backdrop that complemented the simplicity of their elopement.
The golden tones of August reflected beautifully off the water, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere as we captured their first portraits as newlyweds.
Casino and Church Views¶
After finishing along the waterfront, we crossed toward Casino de Beaulieu-sur-Mer for a few photographs with its classic façade in the background. From there, we walked along Boulevard du Maréchal Leclerc and toward Avenue des Hellènes, eventually reaching the area near Église du Sacré-Cœur.
The church’s architecture added a timeless European character to the gallery. The quiet streets surrounding it allowed us to move comfortably and capture relaxed, natural moments between them.
Ending by the Seawall¶
To conclude the session, we made our way toward the coastal walkway near Théâtre de la Batterie. This path runs alongside the seawall and offers beautiful open views of the surrounding mountains and coastline. In the distance, you can see La Réserve de Beaulieu and the curve of Plage de la Réserve, adding depth and elegance to the final images.
The hour passed quickly, but we were able to explore several distinct backdrops within a short walking distance. The combination of sea views, historic architecture, and quiet streets made this elopement session feel refined, peaceful, and beautifully Riviera.
