A Sunrise Morning Couple Session in Villefranche-sur-Mer¶
Why We Love Morning Light¶
In mid-August, we photographed J and J from 08:00 to 09:30 in Villefranche-sur-Mer. Morning sessions here are always a favourite. Sunset is beautiful, and the golden evening tones are undeniably romantic, but there is something especially calm about the early hours of the day. The streets are quieter, the air feels fresh, and the light is soft and even.
For couples who value a peaceful atmosphere without crowds, sunrise or early morning is often the perfect choice.
Beginning at the Iconic Church View¶
We started at one of the prettiest streets in town, where you can see Église Saint-Michel standing above the pastel façades. This viewpoint is one of the most recognisable in Villefranche-sur-Mer. The narrow street draws the eye towards the church and gives a sense of depth and character that works beautifully in photographs.
Waterfront Portraits¶
Next, we walked towards Place Amélie Pollonais, the main square near the harbour. We paused on the steps for a few portraits, using the layered architecture behind them to frame the images.
Afterwards, we walked down the waterfront towards the train station area, where the view opens onto the waterfront and the curve of the bay. This part of town offers a wide perspective of the sea with the colourful buildings rising behind it. The gentle morning light reflected beautifully off the water, creating a bright yet delicate backdrop.
Finishing at the Panoramic Viewpoint¶
To conclude the session, we headed up to the panoramic viewpoint along Boulevard Napoléon III. This elevated spot offers one of the clearest, most unobstructed views over the town and bay. It is not quite aerial, but it gives a wonderful sense of height and openness that showcases the full charm of Villefranche-sur-Mer.
We ended the shoot there, surrounded by soft morning light and expansive coastal views. It was a relaxed and elegant way to capture J and J’s time on the Riviera.
