Intimate Engagement by the Sea in Menton, South of France¶
Proposal Planning¶
A reached out while planning a short trip to the South of France from the UK with his partner, M. The schedule was tight, and M had no idea that a proposal was being planned. Every part of the trip was already accounted for, which meant we needed to find a location and timing that felt completely natural while still offering something special.
After talking through a few options, we settled on Menton. It sat comfortably in the middle of their trip and worked well logistically, without raising any suspicion. The plan came together smoothly, and the surprise remained intact.
The proposal took place early in the morning. Not at sunrise, but during that quiet window shortly after, when the town is calm and the light is usually soft. That morning happened to be cloudy. The light stayed gentle and even, and the colours of the sea in Menton were especially bright and soft, something the town is known for on overcast days. A proposed on the rocky area just to the left of Plage des Sablettes, with a clear, direct view over Menton. The setting felt open and peaceful, and the proposal itself went exactly as hoped.
Plage des Sablettes¶
Afterwards, we spent about an hour photographing M and A around the town. We walked along the coastal path above Plage des Sablettes, where the view looks back across Menton and the waterfront.
From there, we made our way into town, taking time to explore different spots along the way.
Menton Old Streets¶
We finished by walking up the stairs that lead towards the cathedral, and then continued into one of our favourite streets just behind it. The soft yellow tones of the buildings there are a perfect way to end a shoot, especially in the quieter morning light.
Despite the packed schedule and the challenge of keeping everything discreet, the timing worked beautifully. The cloudy morning, the calm pace, and the variety of locations made it a relaxed and enjoyable session for everyone involved.
