Lavender Fields EVJF Bachelorette Picnic and Photoshoot in Valensole¶
A Summer Evening Celebration in the Lavender¶
In mid-June, from 17:30 to 19:00, we photographed a joyful bachelorette celebration organised by the maid of honour.
For this session, we chose a lavender field located between Lavandes Angelvin and Valensole. This particular field is quieter and more intimate than many others in the area, which made it perfect for a relaxed group celebration. The group specifically wanted something peaceful for the picnic, away from busy roads and crowded viewpoints, so this location was ideal.
Lighting and Timing Tips¶
Mid-June is slightly early in the lavender season. We did mention to the maid of honour that at this time of year the lavender is still growing, which means it can appear smaller and slightly greener than in peak bloom at the end of June and into July. The rows are not yet at their fullest height, and the purple tones are softer and more subtle.
However, due to the wedding schedule, the celebration needed to take place a certain amount of time before the big day. This was the only window that worked for everyone, and it was far more important that the bride could celebrate comfortably with her friends than waiting for peak bloom.
Even though the lavender was earlier in its cycle, the fields still provided a beautiful Provençal backdrop.
Photoshoot First, Picnic After¶
As it was a larger group, it made more sense to complete the photos first while everyone was fresh, organised, and fully styled. For picnic sessions, the photography portion usually lasts between 15 and 30 minutes. This ensures you still have at least one full hour to relax and enjoy the picnic afterwards without interruption.
For this particular group, that was especially important. They truly wanted to spend quality time together as friends, not simply pose for photographs. Doing the photos first allowed them to fully switch off afterwards and enjoy the celebration properly.
This is an example of a picnic set-up from a picnic and photo session experience.
Group Moments, Candid Energy and Creative Posing¶
During the photoshoot itself, we captured a mix of posed and candid moments. With bachelorette groups, energy is everything.
We photographed full group shots with everyone together, smaller groupings within their circle of friends, natural walking and laughing moments, playful posed images, solo shots of A and fun interaction shots with movement.
They also brought props, which we always recommend for bachelorette sessions. Props help unify the group visually and make the session feel more personalised.
For this celebration, they chose a “Koh Lanta” theme (a French version of Survivor) and wore matching yellow bandanas. It added personality to the images without overwhelming them. Small details like this elevate the entire gallery.
Why Bachelorette Sessions in Lavender Fields Work So Well¶
Lavender fields are not only romantic for proposals and couples. They are also perfect for friendship celebrations. The colour palette is soft yet vibrant, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the space allows for genuine interaction.
For EVJF celebrations especially, it creates something far more meaningful than a simple party. It becomes a shared memory in one of the most iconic landscapes in Provence.
This June evening was filled with laughter, colour, and genuine connection — exactly what a bachelorette celebration should feel like.
