Night Sky and Sunrise Lavender Photo Session in the Lavender Fields

Date and Timing

This session took place in mid-July. We started at 5:00 and finished at 6:30, making it a one and a half hour shoot. These early morning sessions are designed to capture the lavender fields under night sky conditions and during the sunrise.

Night Sky Session

We began before sunrise so that we could photograph A and A with the soft ambient light of the early morning. To enhance the effect, we used small lanterns or fairy lights for a magical glow in the pictures.

Because we shoot with very low shutter speeds to capture the night sky, it is important that participants remain very still. For this reason, we do not recommend these sessions for young children.

The first 45 minutes of the shoot focused on the night sky and ambient lighting. The deep purples and shadows of the lavender fields are highlighted in a way that is unique to this early time of day.

Sunrise Photo Session

Around 5:50 to 6:00., the sun begins to rise. The remaining 45 minutes of the shoot focus on the sunrise. As the light hits the lavender, the field changes from deep purple to warm orange tones.

This transition creates a striking contrast in colours, showing the fields in two very different moods. The soft glow of sunrise combined with the early morning sky provides a magical backdrop for couples photos.

Night Sky Session Notes

Night sky and sunrise sessions offer a completely different perspective of the lavender fields. They are ideal for couples or adults who can remain still and enjoy the peaceful, quiet beauty of early morning Provence.

This shoot demonstrates how the colours of lavender can change dramatically between night and sunrise, creating a rich variety of images in a single session.
