Proposal at Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat¶
This proposal session took place at Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat in the South of France on July 6th. A reached out in advance with the plan to propose to his partner, M, and after discussing location options, we chose Villa Ephrussi.
Proposal Planning¶
The session was scheduled for 10:00, shortly after the villa opened to the public. This timing was intentional, as mornings are typically quieter and less crowded, especially during the summer season. Arriving early also helped with lighting and temperature. Later in the day, temperatures can rise significantly, which is worth considering when planning a proposal here. We arrived before the garden opened to do some test shots at the location.
We were already positioned at the chosen spot when A arrived with M. He proposed shortly after arriving, and the proposal itself went perfectly.
M said yes, and we transitioned directly into a photo session around the property.
The Villa¶
Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is known for its themed gardens, which provide a wide range of backdrops within a relatively compact area. The property includes nine distinct gardens.
For this session, we mainly stayed close to the villa itself and moved up and down the nearby paths to capture different angles.
The pink facade of the villa was visible in many of the shots and worked well as a consistent background.
The Gardens¶
The variety of gardens allowed for visual changes without needing to walk long distances.
The shoot wrapped up around 11:00. We finished the shoot for some last shots at the proposal spot.
By that time, the villa was beginning to receive more visitors, and the temperature was rising. Overall, the timing and location worked well for a summer proposal, especially for couples looking to avoid crowds and midday heat.
All images from the session reflect both the setting and the flow of the morning, from the proposal through the walk around the gardens.
