Morning Proposal at Colline du Château in Nice, South of France¶
Morning Proposal at Colline du Château in Nice
This proposal took place on May 11 at Colline du Château, also known as Castle Hill, in Nice. E reached out to plan a proposal for his partner, M, and was specifically looking for a quiet location with scenic views. We chose the side of the park overlooking Port Lympia, which offers open views of the sea and harbour rather than the Promenade des Anglais.
Proposal Planning¶
One important consideration for this side of Colline du Château is the timing. Since the sun sets on the opposite side of the hill, this viewpoint works best in the morning. For anyone considering this location, a morning proposal is strongly recommended. Early hours offer the best lighting and the fewest visitors, creating a calm and peaceful atmosphere that works very well for proposals.
We planned to meet at 8:30, which is typically when the park opens, although opening times can vary. For this proposal, E wanted to keep everything simple and let the location speak for itself, so we did not use any decorations. This allowed the focus to remain on the views and the moment itself. E andM arrived at 8:30, giving us enough time beforehand to set up and do test shots. The timing worked perfectly, and M was genuinely surprised. The morning light was soft and even, and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxed.
Port Lympia Viewpoint¶
After their beautiful proposal, we spent some time taking additional photos at the proposal viewpoint.
We then continued the session near the eastern end of the Promenade des Anglais, close to the area near Quai Rauba Capeù, which offers a wide view of the city of Nice with the beach and sea in front. This spot provides a clear perspective of the coastline and works well for photos with the city in the background.
Nice Old Town Streets¶
To finish the session, we moved into the Old Town. This allowed us to add variety to the gallery with a different setting. We photographed in a few narrow streets, including one with warm yellow tones and another with deeper red colours.
We also took photos in the Cours Saleya area, known for its flower market and lively morning atmosphere.
The shoot concluded around 9.30. The weather in May was ideal, comfortable in the morning and not yet affected by the stronger heat that comes later in the day. For anyone planning a proposal or photo session in Nice, early morning between 8:00 and 10:30 remains one of the best time windows, especially for locations like Colline du Château that benefit from soft light and quieter conditions.
