Sunset Proposal at Colline du Château with Decorations¶
Proposal Planning¶
J knew from the start that he wanted to propose to A at sunset, and he wanted it to be in Nice. One of the very best places for sunset in the city is the viewpoint at Colline du Château that faces the Promenade des Anglais. Reached by climbing four flights of stairs, this spot offers an unobstructed view over the Mediterranean, with the sun slowly dropping behind the hills of Nice. As the light softens, the beach, the promenade, and the water below are washed in warm golden tones, with reflections shimmering across the sea. The sky gradually shifts from bright blue to soft amber, creating a calm and romantic atmosphere that feels timeless and unforgettable. This proposal took place between 19:00 and 21:00, timed carefully as the garden closes at 20:00, allowing us enough time to enjoy the location and the light before the gates closed.
Proposal Setup and Decorations¶
J also wanted a decorative setup that would feel elegant and intentional, while still standing out against the sunset colours. We chose two very large rose bouquets, placed side by side along the railing of the viewpoint, framing the scene beautifully. Along with the bouquets, we added “Marry Me” letters and matching red and white rose petals scattered on the ground. The setup was simple, refined, and perfectly balanced with the dramatic view behind it.
We began setting up at 19:00, and Jay arrived shortly after, around 19:30. When he led A to the viewpoint, she was completely unaware of what was about to happen. At first, she genuinely thought the setup belonged to someone else, which made her reaction even more touching. When she realised the proposal was meant for her, the surprise and emotion were unmistakable.
After the proposal, we stayed at the viewpoint for a short while longer to capture portraits with the full setup before carefully taking everything down.
As the park was closing, we made our way down just before 20:00.
Promenade des Anglais¶
From there, we continued the photoshoot along the top of the Promenade des Anglais, where the sun was now fully setting. The light danced across the water, turning the Mediterranean a soft blue with golden reflections, while the sky glowed in warm pastel tones.
Port Lympia¶
As the evening progressed and the light became gentler, we walked towards Port Lympia, finishing the shoot as dusk settled over the harbour.
By around 21:00, the sky had softened, the colours had deepened, and the day came to a quiet, romantic close. It was the perfect ending to a beautifully planned sunset proposal in the heart of Nice.
