Planning a Family Photo Session

We captured a family session in the lavender fields of Valensole, Provence, for a family of four with two adorable little girls in early July. For family shoots, one of the biggest factors that elevates the photos is colour coordination and outfits. When everyone wears complementary or matching clothing, it creates a cohesive, polished look that really pops in the photos.

Sunset Colours

For this session, we chose the golden glow of sunset, shooting from 20:30 to 21:30. The timing allowed the lavender to catch the warm light, making the colours of the fields vibrant and soft at the same time.

Matching Outfits

The girls wore matching white dresses with small white bow ties, perfectly coordinated with their parents’ light-coloured clothing. The result was effortlessly cute and visually striking across every shot.

Various Poses

The session included a variety of setups: solo portraits of each child, the siblings together, dad’s portraits, mom’s portraits, parents together, and playful family shots with the kids. The lavender fields added a stunning backdrop, and the sunset cast warm orange tones that enhanced the colours and created a magical atmosphere.
