A Magical Night Sky and Sunrise Proposal in the Lavender Fields

Planning the Night Sky Session

In late June, A reached out to book a night sky and sunrise session with her partner. These sessions are usually an hour and a half long, starting early in the morning around 5:30 and finishing around 7:00. This timing allows us to capture images in complete darkness with lanterns or fairy lights, then transition naturally into sunrise shots as the light changes.

Arriving and Setting Up Photography Session in the Lavender Fields

We chose a quiet field just a few minutes from Valensole. The early morning timing meant the field was completely private, giving A and J a relaxed atmosphere for the session. We set up lanterns and fairy lights to add magical points of light for the pre-dawn shots, and everything was ready when they arrived right on time.

The Surprise Proposal

Unbeknownst to A and ourselves, J was planning to propose during the session. Just before sunrise, the moment arrived. He proposed right there among the lavender, and she had absolutely no idea it was coming. It was a completely genuine and intimate moment, and the surprise made it even more special. We also had no idea it was coming!

Capturing the Morning After the Proposal

After she said yes, we shifted the focus back to solo shots of A, as the session was originally intended for her. The soft pre-sunrise light worked beautifully for portraits.

Once the sun began to rise, we transitioned into couple shots to commemorate the proposal, capturing both the joy of the moment and the stunning lavender backdrop.

Lavender, Light, and a Beautiful Proposal Ring

One of the highlights was including her purple proposal ring in the photos, which matched perfectly with the lavender. Staying in the same field throughout allowed us to fully use the magical early morning light and the glowing colours of the lavender.

It was a fun, intimate, and unforgettable session with a perfect mix of night sky, fairy lights, sunrise, and a magical proposal.
