A Peaceful Morning Proposal Followed by Photo Tour near Valensole¶
An Early Start in the Dip Field¶
In early July, we met H and B for an early morning session from 8:00 to 9:00. Morning shoots have a completely different atmosphere compared to sunset sessions. The light is softer, the air feels fresher, and the fields are much quieter.
B had chosen what we call the “Dip Field” for the proposal. This field is one of our favourites because of its dramatic slope, which creates depth and movement in photographs. From certain angles, the lavender appears to stretch endlessly into the distance.
The Proposal Moment and Reactions¶
The proposal itself went beautifully. The morning light was gentle and flattering, and everything unfolded naturally. After H said yes, we stayed in the Dip Field for a little while to capture celebratory moments, close-up details, and a few relaxed portraits while the excitement was still fresh.
Additional Portraits in the Sage Field¶
Since we had a full hour, we had time to explore more than one location. After finishing in the Dip Field, we headed to a sage field.
The sage field offers a completely different look. The tones are softer, with subtle pink and muted hues that contrast nicely with the purple lavender. Visually, it is very pretty and delicate, even though the scent of sage is not quite as lovely as lavender. The change in texture and colour added variety to the session and gave H and B a different style of images within the same shoot.
Lavender Views with Olive Trees and a Glimpse of Valensole¶
To finish the session, we moved to another field close to Valensole. We love this particular spot because it offers a beautiful view of the village in the background. From certain angles, you can see Valensole sitting gently on the horizon, which gives context and a strong sense of place to the photographs.
There are also olive trees nearby, which frame the images beautifully and add a classic Provençal feel. The combination of lavender rows, olive trees, and the distant village creates a layered and distinctly local backdrop.
We wrapped up the session at 9:00, having captured a proposal, celebration portraits, and three distinct landscapes, all within one peaceful summer morning.
