An Evening Engagement Session in Villefranche-sur-Mer¶
This engagement session between R and A took place on 10 May, with a one-and-a-half-hour shoot from 19:45 to 21:15. The couple had recently become engaged but had not yet had the opportunity to capture photographs of the moment, so this session was centred on celebrating their engagement and preserving those memories.
Soft Evening Light in the Bay¶
Although sunset occurs later in May, Villefranche-sur-Mer sits within a bay where the sun disappears behind the mountains much earlier. By the time the session began, there was no direct sunlight, creating gentle, even evening light throughout the town. This was exactly the atmosphere R and A were hoping for, especially for the panoramic viewpoint later in the shoot.
We began near the train station, a favourite starting point that offers a beautiful elevated view of the harbour and coastline.
From there, we walked down along the waterfront, capturing natural, movement-filled moments as the couple laughed, danced, and interacted effortlessly. Their connection felt completely genuine, requiring very little direction.
A Proposal Recreated Above the Town¶
As evening approached, we made the short walk up to the panoramic viewpoint overlooking Villefranche-sur-Mer.
The timing allowed the town lights to begin glowing, creating a romantic and cinematic backdrop.
Here, R and A recreated their proposal so they could finally have photographs of that meaningful moment.
We finished the session with portraits of the two of them together and close-up images of the engagement ring, framed by the sparkling evening view across the bay. The calm night atmosphere made this final part of the session feel intimate, peaceful, and deeply celebratory.
