Couple Photography Session in the Lavender Fields, Provence¶
Photography Session Planning and Timing¶
This simple couples session took place in mid-June, from 09:00 to 10:00. Being mid-June, the lavender was still in the early stages of growth, less purple and bushy than at the peak of the season, but still looked lovely for the shoot. L and I’s schedule only allowed this time since they were making a day trip to the region from Nice, and we always make sessions work regardless of exact timing or lavender maturity.
We started in a field where the lavender curls gently to the left, which creates a dynamic and visually interesting backdrop for photos. This area has two fields very close together, perfect for a one-hour session, as we can capture two distinct looks without travelling far, just across the street in about two minutes.
Couple Portraits in the Lavender¶
The session focused entirely on couples photos. We captured a mix of posed and candid shots, highlighting L and I’s connection and playful moments together. Their coordinated outfits helped elevate the images.
After the first field, we moved across the street to the second field. This one faces the horizon, giving a more expansive view of the lavender stretching seemingly endlessly, which creates a very cinematic effect in photos. The lighting was bright morning sun, which suited them perfectly and added a fresh, vibrant feel to the images.
Solo Portraits¶
We finished with some solo shots of L.
Despite being early in the season, the lavender provided a delicate and romantic backdrop, and the couple’s styling and energy made the photos feel warm and memorable.
