Engagement Celebration Photoshoot in the Lavender Fields, Valensole¶
Photography Session Planning and Timing¶
This session took place in early July, with I and D visiting from Singapore. They had recently gotten engaged and were travelling through Provence with some friends. They wanted a celebratory photo session during this trip. They chose a morning session from 07:30 to 09:00. The session lasted an hour and a half to allow time for photography in two separate fields.
Lavender Fields Selection and Route¶
We began at a field near Valensole, which is perfect for morning light. The day was cloudy, which we love for lavender photography because the colours really pop against soft, diffused light.
The first field offered beautiful expansive views, perfect for capturing romantic and candid shots. They were such a fun and goofy couple, in the best way. The candid moments between them were adorable and the pictures were so much fun.
After around 30 minutes, we drove about 20 minutes to the second field in Puimoisson. This location is a little farther from Valensole but well worth the drive. The highlight of this field is a charming hut in the background, which adds a unique element to the photos and frames the couple beautifully.
Session Highlights¶
The couple brought along a little bubble machine, which added a playful and whimsical element to the photos. Their two friends helped spray bubbles towards them, creating fun, dynamic shots. The session included a mix of posed and candid images, with a focus on capturing the joy and excitement of their recent engagement.
Our Photography Session Style¶
We captured a variety of shots: romantic portraits of the couple, candid moments of them interacting, and creative shots with the bubble machine. The first field’s cloudy lighting enhanced the purple hues of the lavender, while the second field in Puimoisson offered a contrasting backdrop with the hut and more structured rows of lavender.
