R planned a thoughtful and romantic proposal for S at the beautiful Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Saint‑Jean‑Cap‑Ferrat. This location is one of the most elegant settings on the French Riviera, known for its pastel pink façade, refined architecture, and themed gardens overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
For photography, we always recommend visiting the villa right at opening or close to closing time. During the middle of the day, the gardens can become busy and the sunlight much harsher. Early morning and late afternoon provide softer light, fewer visitors, and a far more intimate atmosphere.
Their session took place in mid-June from 17:00 to 18:00, just before the villa closed for the evening. R’s idea was especially sweet. Rather than proposing immediately, he asked us to follow them naturally through the gardens at first, capturing quiet moments as they explored together. When they reached a seaside viewpoint, he paused and proposed, creating a genuine and emotional surprise that unfolded beautifully in the soft evening light.
After the proposal, we continued walking through the villa’s gardens, photographing them among the elegant pathways, fountains, and panoramic sea views. The architecture and landscaping of the estate create a timeless atmosphere that feels both refined and romantic, making it an exceptional place to celebrate an engagement.
The session ended peacefully as the villa prepared to close, leaving S and R with a collection of images that captured not only the proposal itself, but the calm beauty of an evening on the Riviera and the beginning of their next chapter together.
