July Sunrise Maternity Portraits: Lavender Fields of Valensole, France¶
Early Morning Glow at the Sunrise Field¶
In early July, L and A booked a sunrise maternity session from 6:00 to 7:00. We started at what we call the “Sunrise Field”. This couple was wonderful to work with. They were easy-going, fun, and happy to just enjoy the morning together.
They brought a sonogram of their baby, which made for a really sweet addition to the photos. Props like this always add a personal touch, and it was lovely to include it in the session.
Capturing the Changing Sunrise Light¶
The first part of the shoot was during dawn, when the lavender appeared deep and purple.
As the sun started to rise, the colours shifted dramatically to pinks and oranges, giving a completely different feel to the photos. We captured a variety of shots of them together, focusing on their connection rather than solo portraits.
Second Location: Dip Field¶
After the sun rose, we moved to the second location, the Dip Field. The gentle slope of the lavender here creates depth and a sense of endless rows, perfect for maternity portraits. We finished the session there, taking advantage of the soft morning light to create a peaceful, glowing set of images for them.
