Lavender Field Couples Photography: Golden Sunrise Session in Provence¶
Photography Session Planning and Lighting¶
In early July, H and her partner, N, joined us for a sunrise session from 6:00 to 7:30. They chose a longer session so we could move between multiple fields and fully enjoy the early morning light.
We began in what we call “Sunrise Field” No. 2. It is one of our favourite sunrise locations because of its open horizon and mountain views in the distance. The light rises directly behind the field, creating a beautiful backlit effect across the lavender.
The golden tones that morning were incredible. The sun came up cleanly over the horizon, casting warm light across the rows. The result was soft, glowing images with depth and dimension.
Solo Sunrise Lighting Portraits¶
We started the session with a few portraits of the couple.
The session was mainly focused on H, so most of the photographs were individual portraits. She wore a beautiful flowing dress that moved effortlessly as she walked and ran through the lavender. The combination of golden light, mountains in the background, and the movement of the dress made the images feel dynamic and elegant. The emphasis remained on H’s individual shots during this first location.
Couple Photos at the Dip Field¶
Afterwards, we moved to the “Dip Field”. The lighting remained soft and flattering, and the natural slope of the field added a different perspective to the gallery.
Here, we focused more on couple portraits, capturing relaxed and joyful moments between them. The golden sunrise glow continued to highlight the lavender beautifully.
It was a smooth, joyful session with perfect light, two stunning locations, and a wonderful way to start the day in Valensole.
