Romantic Coastal Proposal and Beach Picnic in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, French Riviera

Proposal Planning

D reached out to me with a clear vision for a very special proposal. He wanted it to be more than just decorations; he wanted a second part where they could really enjoy their time together after the engagement. It was such a thoughtful idea, and the whole plan ended up being incredibly romantic.

They chose a location in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, and D was very specific about the spot. He wanted a flatter area, without the jagged rocks, that still offered a stunning view of the sea. We settled on a spot just before the start of the trail, which provided the perfect backdrop for the moment.

The proposal took place on June 14th, right in the middle of summer, when it gets very hot in the region. To avoid the midday sun, we decided to meet later in the evening at 18:30, when the sunlight was softer and the temperature more comfortable. J and D pretended they were simply going for a walk, making the proposal a complete surprise.

Proposal Setup

We arrived early to help set up the scene. The ground was scattered with flower petals, and two stands held beautiful bouquets in white, chosen specifically to complement the colours of the sea. When D proposed, it was a touching moment, and after the engagement, we captured more photos with the setup before carefully clearing everything away.

After the proposal, we took a short walk along the trail, continuing to photograph the couple in the perfect evening light.

We also included shots with the lighthouse in the background with the sun setting behind it.

Surprise Post-Engagement Private Picnic

The day did not end there. The second part of the celebration was a surprise for J. We finished the trail session and then headed to Plage de Marinières in Villefranche-sur-Mer, where a romantic picnic had been prepared on the sand. The picnic included snacks and fruit, taking into account dietary preferences, as well as champagne for them to enjoy. They were left to relax and celebrate together for around an hour, enjoying the soft glow of the sunset and the gentle sea breeze.

This proposal was not only about the moment itself, but about creating an experience that J and D could truly savour together. From the careful setup on the trail to the intimate picnic on the beach, every detail was designed to make the evening unforgettable.
