Solo Birthday Picnic and Photos in the Lavender Fields, Provence¶
Photo Session Planning and Timing¶
This session took place in early July, from 08:00 to 09:30. K booked a solo picnic photo session to celebrate her birthday while visiting Provence. For picnic sessions, mornings or evenings work best, as the light is soft and comfortable, and you are not sitting directly in the sun. Kim chose the breakfast timing, which was perfect for a calm, quiet experience.
Location: Valensole Area¶
We selected a field just a few minutes from Valensole. This field is quieter than the main tourist-heavy fields, making it ideal for a relaxing solo experience. The expanse of lavender in this field gives a feeling of endless rows of purple, creating a dreamy backdrop for photos.
Picnic First¶
As with all picnic photo sessions, the focus of this experience is on enjoying the picnic rather than the photo session. Kim spent the first part of her session savouring local treats, getting to know us, and relaxing in the lavender. This timing works perfectly for solo travellers, allowing them to enjoy the space, the food, and the moment without feeling rushed. This is K with her picnic.
Solo Portraits¶
After the picnic, we did a short 15–20-minute photo session in the lavender field. Even in this short time, the field allowed for beautiful, expansive shots. Kim’s birthday experience was perfectly captured with a mix of posed and candid portraits.
Curly Lavender Field¶
To give a different perspective, we moved to a second part of the field, which curls to the left and has a unique feel compared to the first section. The contrast between the two areas gives variety in the photos and makes the session feel like it covers more of Valensole than just one spot. This was a fun way to create diverse images within a short session.
Birthday Memories¶
The shoot concluded in the second area, leaving Kim with a beautiful collection of photos from her solo birthday experience.
