A Mother-Daughter Lavender Field Sunset Photoshoot in Valensole

Date and Timing

This session took place in early July, in one of our favourite fields between Lavandes Angelvin and the town of Valensole. The last week of June and the first week of July are some of the best times to photograph in the lavender fields. At this point, the lavender is fully vibrant, the light is soft and golden, and the fields feel expansive and romantic.

This shoot was part of our picnic and photo session option. The picnic ran from 20:00 to around 20:45, followed by a mini photo session. For picnic sessions, the focus is mainly on the picnic itself, and the photos are a smaller portion of the overall experience. This is important to note if your main goal is a dedicated photo shoot, as the picnic will always take precedence in timing.

Picnic Setup

We started with the picnic, which is always a highlight for families and groups who want to enjoy some relaxed time in the lavender fields. A picture of the picnic can be added here to show what these setups look like. The picnic included carefully styled props and snacks, giving the session a luxurious yet relaxed vibe. Photo Session Overview

Once the light began to soften and the sunset colours started to appear, we moved into the photo session. We stayed in a single field to make the most of the golden light. A did a combination of solo portraits and pictures together.

Some images were candid, capturing natural laughter and interaction, while others were posed to highlight the beauty of the lavender and the connection between mother and daughter. The golden light reflected off their hair and the rows of lavender, creating a luminous and romantic backdrop for the photographs.

Styling, Outfits and Coordination

Outfit coordination played a big role in the elegance of the session. Both A and A wore white dresses, which contrasted beautifully with the vibrant purple of the lavender. This coordination is something we always recommend for family shoots, as it elevates the images and creates harmony across the photos.
