Summer Sunset Proposal and Picnic in the Lavender Fields of Valensole¶
Months of Planning for a Lavender Proposal¶
G reached out months in advance because he wanted to plan a proposal for C in the lavender fields. He knew he wanted to include a picnic, and he also had a bigger surprise planned. After the proposal, they would be staying at a villa where all of their close friends from New York were set to arrive and celebrate with them the next day. Here is the story from that celebration. This particular session took place in early July, the day before their friends arrived. It was the quiet, intimate moment before a much bigger celebration.
Perfect Timing at Sunset in the Dip Field¶
We chose the “Dip Field” for the proposal. The session was scheduled from 20:45 to 22:15 so they could arrive just as the sun was setting. The timing worked perfectly.
G proposed at exactly the right moment, with the sun dipping low and the light turning soft and golden. The lighting that evening was especially beautiful, casting a warm glow across the lavender and creating a romantic atmosphere for the proposal.
After G’s proposal, we continued with the rest of the shoot.
Celebrating the Engagement with a Private Picnic¶
Because they chose the picnic option, the structure of the session allowed for both photography and private time. Even with a longer session, picnic proposals always include time to sit and enjoy the setup.
After the proposal photos, we prepared the picnic and stepped back so they could celebrate together. They enjoyed champagne and local Provençal foods while taking in the moment privately in the field. It was exactly what G had envisioned.
The Beginning of a Bigger Celebration¶
The next day, we met them again for the larger celebration photoshoot at their villa, including a poolside gathering with their friends. This evening in the lavender was the calm before the party, a beautifully timed sunset proposal followed by an intimate picnic for two.
