Surprise Proposal by the Sea in Menton, French Riviera

Proposal Setup

This proposal session between J and C took place from 11:00 to 12:00 beside the rocky shoreline near Plage des Sablettes, a quiet spot known for one of the most beautiful views back toward the town of Menton. We arrived early and stayed discreetly hidden as J and C walked to the edge of the rocks, blending in as casual passers-by while the moment unfolded naturally.

The Proposal Moment and Reactions

When C proposed, J’s surprise and emotion were immediate and genuine. The moment was joyful and intimate, made even more special by the open sea and colourful buildings rising behind them. After taking a few portraits along the rocks, we moved quickly into the shaded streets to soften the harsh midday light and continue the session comfortably.

After C’s proposal, we took some more photos in the same location before moving on.

Afterwards we started the next part of the shoot around the town of Menton. We began at the distinctive zigzag staircase leading up towards the historic Basilique Saint-Michel-Archange.

Colourful Old Town Streets

Then we wandered through a quiet yellow street tucked just behind it. These softer, sheltered corners of town created a gentle contrast to the brightness of the shoreline and allowed for relaxed portraits together.

The session finished in the old town, where the narrow streets and warm tones of Menton provided a charming and timeless ending to a very sweet proposal story.
