Surprise Proposal in the Village of Saignon, Provence

Proposal Session Planning

C reached out to organise a proposal for R in mid-July. Originally, the plan was to shoot in Valensole from 18:00 to 19:00, but due to an unusually hot summer, heat waves, and drought, the lavender fields there were nearly all harvested. We quickly adapted and found a beautiful field just outside Saignon in the Luberon region. It was quiet, private, and perfect for the surprise proposal.

Setting Up the Proposal

C wanted everything to feel natural and intimate, so we hid in the vineyard and prepared the scene quietly. When R arrived, she had no idea what was about to happen. The lavender still looked lovely, even though the season was late, and the surrounding landscape complemented the moment perfectly.

Capturing the Proposal Moment

The proposal went beautifully. R was genuinely surprised and delighted, and we immediately started capturing photos of them together in the field. The soft summer light added warmth to the images, and the vineyard in the foreground gave the photos a unique framing.

After C proposed, we spent some more time in the lavender field for some posed portraits.

After the proposal, we drive into the town of Saignon for a few more shots.

It provided a lovely contrast to the lavender field and rounded out the session perfectly.

Despite the challenges of the late-season lavender, everything came together beautifully. R and C were relaxed, happy, and easy to photograph. The combination of the field, vineyard, and town created a memorable and picturesque proposal session.
