Surprise Sunset Proposal at Colline du Château in Nice¶
Choosing the Perfect Spot¶
A wanted to propose to K at a beautiful, romantic location, so we chose the Colline du Château. This spot is ideal for sunset proposals, but note that it closes at 20:00. The best timing is an hour or two before sunset, when the light is soft, warm, and golden. For this session, we scheduled the shoot from 18:20 to 19:20 on 5 September 2023.
Proposal Setup¶
We arrived early to prepare the scene. A wanted something simple yet elegant, so we set up white flower petals along the proposal spot. The petals not only added a romantic touch but also naturally kept other visitors from lingering too close, allowing for a private, intimate moment.
The Proposal Moment¶
When K arrived, she was completely surprised. The proposal went smoothly, and her reaction was priceless—pure joy and shock. The golden light of the late afternoon created a warm, luminous backdrop for this special moment.
Portraits Around Nice¶
After the proposal, we walked through the surrounding areas to capture more photos. We focused on the side of the Colline du Château that faces the promenade, which catches direct sunlight in the late afternoon. The opposite side, facing Port Lympia, tends to fall in shadow at this time, so we never recommend that view for sunset proposals.
Sunset by the Sea¶
We finished the shoot at another scenic sunset spot nearby, capturing the sparkling sea and the warm, fading light.
The combination of town views and sea views made for a balanced and stunning gallery of memories from the day.
