A Newborn Family Session Across the French Riviera and Provence¶
This was a truly special and unique shoot with one of the youngest babies we have ever photographed. The couple were visiting the French Riviera with their newborn, only a few months old, and wanted to capture this fleeting season of life in two meaningful locations that perfectly aligned with their travel schedule.
Part One — Evening Light in Nice¶
The first session took place on 5 July 2024 from 18:50 to 19:20. We began at the viewpoint along the waterfront by Quai Rauba Capeu, where the light at this hour is still bright and golden but not yet the soft glow of sunset.
This timing created colourful, luminous photographs rather than a deeply romantic sunset mood, which suited the gentle, joyful feeling of a newborn family session.
After a few quiet moments and portraits together, we slowly walked toward Port Pympia, where the light softened slightly while still remaining warm and clear. The focus throughout was on natural interaction between the parents and their baby, capturing tender, authentic moments.
Part Two — Lavender Fields in Valensole¶
The second part of the session took place a few days later on 8 July 2024 from 19:45 to 20:15, surrounded by the lavender fields of Provence. This timing was chosen carefully to keep the light airy and bright rather than sunset-dramatic, perfect for soft family imagery with a newborn.
We captured gentle portraits of the three of them together, along with quiet solo moments of their baby among the lavender. The entire session felt calm, tender, and deeply meaningful — a beautiful way to remember their first journey together as a family.
