A Sunrise Anniversary Family Session Lavender Fields of Valensole

Celebrating 10 Years Together in Provence

J reached out to organise a family photo session while they were travelling through Provence in early July as a day trip. She and her husband M were celebrating 10 years together, and with their two young children, M and E, it felt like the perfect moment to document this chapter of their lives.

Because they have small children, they chose a sunrise session. Early mornings offer softer light and far fewer distractions, which makes a noticeable difference when photographing young kids.

First Location: Sunrise Field

We met from 6:05 to 7:05 in the morning and began in what we call the “Sunrise Field”. This location offers a beautiful open view of the horizon, making it ideal for capturing the first light of the day.

The sunrise lighting was soft and warm, gradually shifting in tone as the sun came up. The early golden light created a calm and flattering atmosphere for family portraits. We also took some solo shots of J with the soft sunrise light.

Second Location: Dip Field

Afterwards, we moved to a second field that we call the “Dip Field” to add a different perspective. The natural slope of the field creates depth and dimension, which gives variety to the gallery without needing to travel far. The light remained beautiful, with a gentle glow settling over the lavender rows.

Matching Outfits and Meaningful Details

The family coordinated matching outfits, which looked lovely against the purple tones of the fields. They also brought two small chalkboards with the words “10 years later” written on them. That simple detail added a personal and meaningful touch to the session and elevated the storytelling of their anniversary celebration.
