A Meaningful Proposal Plan in the Heart of Èze¶
In mid-September, we met K and C for a two-hour evening session from 18:00 to 20:00. With sunset arriving a little earlier in September, the timing was carefully chosen to capture the warm glow of golden hour as it settled over the village.
Proposal Planning¶
C had thoughtfully planned to propose to K, knowing that she would much prefer the charm of narrow alleyways and quiet stone streets over a formal garden setting. Instead of dramatic viewpoints or grand terraces, he chose one of Èze’s intimate passageways— a location full of character and soft Mediterranean light. In a funny twist of fate, K and C were staying at Château Eza, and it turned out their room was located just beside the very street we had selected. None of us had expected that coincidence. He proposed while pretending to walk back to their room. The proposal itself was incredibly sweet. As C got down on one knee, the quiet stone street felt suspended in time.
Views Over the Sea¶
After spending time in the alleyways, we made our way back toward the hotel area for portraits overlooking the Mediterranean. In Èze village, unobstructed sea views are limited to a few select locations, including Château Eza, La Chèvre d’Or, and the renowned garden. K and C wanted photographs that included the sea, so we incorporated these iconic vantage points into the second part of the session.
What K did not know was that several of her closest friends and family members had travelled to be there. Her reaction was unforgettable. We captured some family portraits with the coastline stretching behind them, along with solo pictures of K.
The sunset that evening was exceptional, the light turned golden and luminous, gently washing over the stone walls and the water below. The atmosphere felt calm and celebratory all at once. K and C were such a playful, lighthearted couple, bringing so much personality and laughter into every frame.
Golden Hour at the Jardin Exotique d’Èze¶
To conclude the session, we headed into the Jardin Exotique d’Èze just before closing time. For anyone planning a shoot there, the garden charges a 200€ photography fee in addition to standard admission tickets. While this is required for all professional sessions, the panoramic views and dramatic cliffside scenery truly make it worthwhile.
As we arrived, the final light of the day was settling over the sea. The colours were soft and layered — blues, golds, and gentle pink tones blending together on the horizon. We captured a series of romantic portraits among the sculpted pathways and lush plants, along with a few more joyful images with family to commemorate the occasion.
By the time we finished, the garden was nearly closed, and the sky had dimmed into evening. Everything had unfolded perfectly — a heartfelt proposal, an unforgettable surprise, glowing sunset light, and a celebration surrounded by the people who matter most.

At the end of the shoot we captured heartfelt portraits with her family, celebrating together in the soft evening light. The energy was warm, genuine, and full of laughter.
