An Unforgettable Evening in Èze¶
In late July, from 19:40 to 20:40, B proposed to S at Château Eza. Perched high above the Mediterranean, Château Eza is a historic boutique hotel built into the ancient stone walls of the village. With panoramic sea views and elegant terraces, it is one of the most sought after proposal locations on the Riviera. The setting feels intimate and dramatic at the same time, which makes it ideal for moments like this.
That evening, however, the Riviera delivered one of its rare but intense windstorms. A few times each year, exceptionally strong winds sweep through the coastline, and this was one of those days. The balcony at Château Eza has no protection from the elements, and the gusts were powerful enough that the hotel staff and our florist had to close exterior access for safety reasons.
B had originally reserved a private outdoor balcony with floral arrangements and a beautifully styled table. Unfortunately, the weather meant the full setup could not go ahead as planned. While it was disappointing, there was simply no way to control the conditions.
The Proposal¶
Despite the changes, B was still able to use the balcony space to propose. The wind may have altered the décor, but it did not affect the emotion of the moment. S was completely taken by surprise. Her reaction was genuine and deeply emotional, and it was clear she had no idea what was about to happen.
