Family Picnic and Photo Session in in the Lavender Fields, Valensole¶
Photoshoot Planning¶
This session took place in late June, in a quiet field situated between Lavandes Angelvin and Valensole. R reached out to book this picnic and photo shoot experience for his family. The timing was set from 18:00 to 19:30, allowing for a late afternoon picnic followed by a short mini session. As with all picnic sessions, the picnic comes first, usually lasting around 45 minutes to an hour, and the photo session follows for the remaining time. The main focus of these experiences is the picnic itself, so anyone looking primarily for a photography session might prefer to book a standalone shoot instead.
Our Picnic Experience¶
The picnic portion is always the highlight of these sessions. This is an example of what the picnic looks like. The family enjoyed local Provençal wine, cheeses, and snacks while taking in the lavender fields. For families visiting Provence, especially with little children, starting with a picnic creates a relaxed, joyful atmosphere before moving into posed or candid photography. Photo Session Portraits¶
After the picnic, we transitioned into the photo session. We began with family portraits of all three together, capturing natural smiles and interactions. Afterwards were portraits of H & E. The field we chose is quieter than the main fields, which makes it perfect for families who want to enjoy the experience without distractions.
Following the group photos, we focused on couples shots with H and R.
We finished at this first field with some photos of all three together again, maintaining variety in poses and compositions.
Session Styling and Field Choice¶
The field is beautifully set with soft lavender, and the quiet location allows for natural candid moments. It is only a few minutes from Valensole, making it convenient while still feeling private. This location is ideal for families who want a combination of picnic enjoyment and gentle photography.
Even though it was a shorter session, the photos captured the joy, connection, and atmosphere of the family’s visit beautifully.
