Sunrise Couple Portraits in Villefranche-sur-Mer¶
Early Morning Arrival¶
This sunrise session with M and M took place on 23 June, from 07:00 to 08:00, in the quiet coastal town of Villefranche-sur-Mer. The couple were staying in Nice, and since we were already travelling in the same direction that morning, we met them early and drove together to the location. This created a calm and relaxed beginning to the day, setting the tone for a peaceful hour of photography by the sea.
Morning Light in Villefranche-sur-Mer¶
Shooting in Villefranche-sur-Mer at this time of day is magical. The town sits within a curved bay, and the sun takes time to rise above the surrounding hills. The most beautiful light appears roughly an hour after sunrise, when the soft glow reaches the waterfront and pastel buildings. Planning the session for 07:00 allowed us to capture that gentle, diffused morning light at its very best.
Strolling Through the Town¶
We began near the viewpoint close to the train station, where the sea opens wide behind the town and the early light feels especially serene.
From there, we slowly wandered down toward the harbour along Quai de l’Amiral Courbet, taking relaxed portraits as the town gradually woke around us.
The quiet streets and still water created a timeless atmosphere that perfectly suited the softness of the morning.
Elevated Views and Final Portraits¶
To finish, we climbed a small set of stairs to one of the elevated viewpoints overlooking the rooftops, where the view of Église Saint-Michel rises gently above the town. With the sea stretching into the distance and the light now fully settled across the bay, it was a peaceful and elegant ending to a beautifully simple sunrise session.
