Mini Family Session in the Lavender Fields, Valensole¶
Family Photo Session Planning and Timing¶
This mini family session took place in late June, from 20:15 to 21:00. This session was with N P, I and M, or the L family, since they wanted to capture some family portraits during their trip to Provence.
We began in the field across from what we usually consider the “sunset field”. This field has lavender that curls gently to the left, creating a completely different vibe from the typical sunset field. On this day, the clouds muted the direct sunset light, but the deep, rich purple of the lavender really popped, giving the images a beautiful, moody tone. We started at the secondary field since we wanted to wait to see if the clouds would part for sunset.
The Family Session Portraits¶
The session started with family portraits of everyone together, capturing the closeness and fun energy of the group.
We then focused on the boys, I and M, letting them run through the lavender for some natural, candid action shots.
Afterward, we moved on to different family combinations: mom N with the boys, dad P with the boys, and solo shots of the children together.
Chasing the Sunset¶
As the session progressed, we wandered into the next field to make the most of the sunset lighting. Here we captured solo shots of N, additional family pictures, and more playful shots of I and M running and exploring the lavender. We also captured a few intimate moments of P and N together, blending posed and candid images.
The field offered a slightly elevated view of the horizon, which helped create depth in the images while still keeping the family and lavender as the main focus.
By the end of the mini session, we had a variety of portraits, playful action shots, and candid moments that truly reflected the L family’s time together in Provence.
