Toddler and Family Sunset Session in the Lavender Fields, Provence

This session took place in mid-July from 20:15 to 20:45. K reached out to us to capture a family session with her, her partner, K, and and their one-year-old daughter, S. They were visiting Provence from Paris and wanted to take advantage of their time in the region to create lasting memories.

We chose the “Dip Field” for this shoot. The field has a dramatic dip in the terrain, which gives the photos an expansive feel. From some angles, it looks like the lavender stretches on forever, making it perfect for family shots and creating a dreamy, open background.

Because they had a small child, we planned this as a 30-minute session, which is great for families with toddlers.

Sunset and Lighting

The timing was perfect. The session ended right at 20:45, catching the sunset at its peak. The golden light highlighted the lavender and added warmth to every frame. It created that soft, magical glow that enhances the colours of the fields and brings out natural tones in skin and clothing.

We also captured some candid moments, like K and her partner lifting their daughter into the air. These playful moments created genuine joy and resulted in a lot of natural expressions. We also got pictures of all three of them together, holding hands, walking through the lavender, and enjoying the field.

This session was short but very sweet. We were able to capture a mix of playful, intimate, and candid moments that reflected their bond as a family. Even with just half an hour, the Dip Field provided variety in backgrounds and angles, making the session feel complete and timeless.
