Sunset in Provence: A Mother-Daughter Lavender Field Session¶
There's something magical about capturing moments between loved ones in breathtaking settings. When Avani and her mother Amrita contacted me about documenting their trip to France, specifically their visit to the iconic lavender fields, I knew we were in for something special.
The pair had always dreamed of experiencing the purple blooms of Provence together, and on July 4th, 2023, that dream became reality.
Picnic¶
We began our session with a quintessentially French picnic spread among the fragrant rows of lavender. Local cheeses, fresh bread, and regional treats created the perfect atmosphere as we got acquainted. This relaxed start allowed Avani and Amrita to become comfortable with my presence before we began shooting.
Golden Hour¶
As the sun began its descent, bathing the endless purple rows in warm golden light, we transitioned into the photography portion of our evening. The 30-minute window of sunset light was all we needed to capture the essence of their mother-daughter bond against the stunning backdrop of one of our favourite lavender field.
What struck me most was how at ease both of them were in front of the camera. With minimal direction, their natural chemistry shone through. We focused primarily on candid moments—laughter shared between them and quiet contemplation of the stunning landscape.
The Results¶
The images from this session tell a story of connection, not just between mother and daughter, but between them and this landscape they'd long dreamed of visiting together, and the precious memories they created.
