Can you help me choose the perfect proposal location?
YES! This is one of our favourite things to help out with. We've photographed over 200 proposals across the entire region: the French Riviera, Provence, Luberon and beyond. We know the hidden corners, the best light, the quietest times, and the most breathtaking vantage points.
We've put together a guide to some of our favourite proposal spots on the French Riviera, which you can find here: Best Places to Propose in the French Riviera.
That said, if you have somewhere else in mind, we're completely open to it and love discovering new locations.
How will you stay hidden during the surprise?
As a two-photographer team, we can position ourselves at different vantage points and blend into our surroundings, whether that's a bench overlooking a garden, a crowd on a viewpoint or a hidden corner of cobblestone streets.
We work with you in advance to plan your approach: exactly where to stand, which direction to walk, and where we'll be positioned to capture the moment without being seen. For public spaces, we carry our cameras casually and don't use large tripods or obvious gear during the proposal moment itself. For private venues, we coordinate directly with hotel or venue staff so our presence feels natural.
The most important thing is communication beforehand. We'll walk through the plan with you step by step so you feel confident, and we'll do everything on our end to make sure the moment is completely genuine.

Tell us what you're imagining and we'll help match it to the right place.
Can we have a private setting?
Yes. Several venues offer full or partial privatisation:
- Château Eza: Private balcony slots from 500€; the Salon Royal from 1,500€ + 1,500€ food & beverage minimum.
- Jardin Exotique of Èze: Privatisation of the entire garden for 1,000€ for 1h before opening hours or 1 hour after closing hours.
- Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild: Gardens available for 12,000€ for full privatisation.
- Private yacht or boat (Cannes or Nice): Complete privacy on the water. Rental through local charter companies.
For public spaces (Colline du Château, beaches, Villefranche harbour), timing is the key to privacy— early mornings and sunrise are often completely empty, even in peak summer.
How far in advance should I book a proposal photographer?
We recommend booking a few months in advance if you have a specific date, venue, or season in mind.
Private venues such as the Jardin Exotique in Èze or a private balcony at Château Eza require advance reservation through the venue directly. These spots have limited availability and specific permitted time slots. Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat only allows one booking per day. We strongly recommend confirming your venue booking before or simultaneously with booking us.
Certain locations like the lavender fields of Valensole are extremely time-sensitive— the bloom window is typically mid-June to mid-July, and sessions fill up quickly during that narrow period.
That said, if you're planning last-minute and your window is still open, reach out and we'll do our best to accommodate!
What's the best time of year to propose in the South of France?
- Spring (April–May): Mild weather, wildflowers everywhere, blooming bougainvillea, and quiet before the summer crowds arrive. Excellent light.
- Lavender season (mid-June to mid-July): A bucket-list experience, but it books far in advance. The bloom period is short and unpredictable depending on the year and heat.
- Summer (July–August): Weather is almost always perfect. It's lively, vibrant, and beautiful, but locations can be crowded in the afternoon. We plan around this by using early morning or sunset timing.
- Autumn (September–October): The light is golden, the crowds have gone, and the temperatures are cooler.
- Winter (November–March): The French Riviera stays mild even in winter, and proposals in this season have a quiet intimacy that we love.
Do you help coordinate with venues, hotels, and vendors?
Yes! We can liaise directly with venues, hotel concierges, and local suppliers on your behalf. For those who do not speak French, we'd be happy to help! Especially for private venue bookings where negotiations or questions need to happen in French. We're a bilingual team.
However, we recommend being the primary point of contact with your hotel, as many luxury properties prefer to coordinate proposals directly with guests for discretion and personalisation. We then come in as your photographers once logistics are confirmed. We're happy to recommend trusted local partners we've worked with!
What if it rains or the weather is bad on the day?
The South of France has over 300 days of sunshine per year, but weather is never guaranteed. We try to be as flexible as possible if we're dealing with undesirable weather or any last-minute changes to your trip. We have no problem changing the time of day or date, even up to a few hours before, but only if we have availability outside of any already booked shoots.
- We monitor the forecast closely in the days leading up to your session and communicate any concerns in advance.
- If the morning of the session brings heavy rain or storms, we'll discuss rescheduling to another available slot.
- Light cloud cover is still amazing for portraits— it softens shadows and creates beautiful, even light. We've photographed some of our most stunning proposals on partly cloudy days.
- If everything else fails, we'll go forward with any weather! Some of our favourite sessions have been in the rain.
